Missouri’s casino industry recorded a downturn in February, as the state’s 13 licensed riverboat casinos saw a 5% year-over-year decline in adjusted gross revenue (AGR). The Missouri Gaming Commission reported that casinos generated $149.3 million in AGR, a drop from the $157 million reported in February 2024.
A significant factor in the overall decrease was the decline in revenue from electronic gaming devices. Slot machine wins totaled $127 million for the month, marking a 6% reduction from the $135.6 million recorded in the same period last year. Despite the drop in slot revenue, table games experienced a slight improvement, bringing in $22.2 million, which represented a 4% increase from February 2024’s $21.3 million.
Four casinos in the state sured the $15 million revenue mark for the month. Ameristar St. Charles led the market with $23.3 million in revenue, followed by River City Casino at $21.5 million. Hollywood Casino reported $19 million, while Ameristar Kansas City generated $15 million.
While Ameristar St. Charles remained Missouri’s highest-grossing casino, its revenue saw a 3% dip from the previous year’s $23.9 million. River City Casino, on the other hand, experienced a 6% increase in earnings, rising from $20.3 million in February 2024.
Among the leading casinos, Hollywood Casino and Ameristar Kansas City both recorded revenue declines in February. Hollywood Casino saw an 8% drop in revenue, falling from $20.6 million in February 2024 to $19 million. Ameristar Kansas City experienced the most significant decline among the top earners, with revenue decreasing by 11% from $16.8 million to $15 million.
